SF Giants fans are now on full-on Dalton Rushing hate watch. The Los Angeles Dodgers catcher continues to do things that irk not just Giants fans, but MLB fans on the whole. His latest episode involved a sarcastic time call to an umpire.
In a recent game between the Miami Marlins and Dodgers, Rushing appeared to call time to the umpire and it seems like it was granted, but after Rushing stepped out of the box he was rung up on an automatic strike three call for not getting back in the box in time.

Dalton Rushing gets humbled by umpire for idiotic behavior
Rushing was livid and threw a fit about it with manager Dave Roberts coming out to defend him. It looks like Rushing actually was in the right, but karma has a funny way of coming back to bite a guy who has very quickly made a lot of enemies as of late.
The following game, Rushing called time and in a very exaggerated and obvious way he made sure that his time call was acknowledged by the umpire.Â

The guy has gone beyond being annoying at this point. He's entered Full On Doofus Territory, a place reserved for a special brand of villain like Yasiel Puig or Mat Latos.
For those who need a brief recap, he accused the Colorado Rockies of cheating, said something terrible when Jung Hoo Lee got injured, tried to take out shortstop Willy Adames after Logan Webb intentionally drilled him in the ribs, made fun of Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya’s figure, and now the umpire stuff. It’s just a month into the season and he’s already had enough controversy for a couple of years. Dalton Rushing? Indeed, Dalton is rushing to be the most hated player in MLB. Sorry.
At this rate, Rushing may end up being the MLB player with the most HBPs in history as teams get mad and just throw at him intentionally.Â
One would hope that he’d learn from all this and maybe just chill out for a bit. I’ve certainly written about Rushing more than I’d care to these last few weeks but as long as he keeps on doing stupid things and making headlines there’s really no choice.
Maybe Rushing’s behavior will come back to bite the Dodgers somehow. Perhaps the baseball gods will see this guy acting like a 13-year-old and will feel the need to humble Los Angeles just a little bit as they try to win their third straight World Series title.
The Giants really don’t seem like they’re going to do much this year so it seems like it will be yet another year of hoping the Dodgers lose in the playoffs. It’s not quite as fun as watching the Giants try to win in the playoffs, if you can even remember what that feels like.
But at least now we can root for Rushing to strike out every time and make a fool of himself on top of wishing for LA’s downfall.
