The Los Angeles Dodgers have picked up right where they left off last season. They are currently 15-6 on the year but, somewhat shockingly, just lost two straight games to the Colorado Rockies. Stop the presses! Apparently, one Dodgers player was so shocked that the team lost that he not-so-subtly accused the Rockies of cheating. SF Giants fans couldn’t help but laugh at the stupidity of that claim.
Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing was behind the plate for the game and was jarred by the fact that the Rockies got hits on several first-pitch breaking balls from relief pitcher Will Klein. Rushing went so far as to call it “fishy” which instantly drew the ire and derision of Giants fans.

SF Giants fans clown Rushing for complaining about Rockies
Rushing did eventually concede that maybe part of Colorado’s success in that inning had to do with the pitches he called. Maybe he realized that if you keep calling first-pitch breaking balls, the opposing team may catch on and sit on that pitch. What a concept.
Not even Rushing’s own manager had his back. After the game, Dave Roberts said that there was nothing fishy going on and said that Klein simply threw bad breaking balls.
Rushing is a young player so clearly this is just some immaturity on his part. Plus, he plays for the Dodgers so he expects to win every single game and it’s natural that his first impulse is to cry foul when the lowly Rockies beat LA, never mind the fact that part of the beauty of baseball is that a less talented team can beat a more talented one any given day. In fact, the Rockies won back-to-back games against Los Angeles so if they win on Monday Rushing may accuse them of a full-on Astros sign-stealing scandal.
While Giants fans may like to think they’re above the Rockies, that simply isn’t the case looking at the standings. As of this writing, the Giants and Rockies have the exact same record of 9-13 to begin the season. If San Francisco and Colorado end the season with the same record, expect to see some pretty huge changes for the Giants. For now though, it just speaks to the bad start San Francisco has had.
The Giants and Dodgers will face off for the first time this season on Tuesday at Oracle Park. On paper, it doesn’t seem like it will go great for the orange and black since the Dodgers are a juggernaut and the Giants have struggled to find any sort of consistency so far this season.
But, at least the Giants can take solace in the fact that the Rockies won two straight games against the Dodgers. If they can do that, pretty much anything is possible. Let’s hope the Giants can somehow take two out of three games in the series just to see what Rushing blames it on. No, no, Dalton. Nothing fishy here. I think you’re just smelling one of those delicious Crazy Crab’z sandwiches! Either that or the guy in the Lou Seal costume hasn’t showered in a few days.
