SF Giants fans don’t really need a reason to dislike Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Dalton Rushing. He’s a Dodger and he’s good. He’s hit an absurd number of home runs since he’s been called up this season. But he just became a true villain in the eyes of Giants fans on Tuesday night.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Giants third base coach Hector Borg sent Jung Hoo Lee home with two outs and he was out by several steps. It was a bad send by Borg which is probably worth its own article, but Lee appeared to injure himself on the play as he tried to slide awkwardly into home to avoid Rushing’s tag.

Jerar Encarnacion replaced Lee later in the game defensively, but before that as Lee was sitting at home plate after getting tagged out, clearly still a little shaken up after the play, Rushing was shown walking to the Dodgers’ dugout and turned around briefly to look at Lee. He turned back around, shrugged slightly, and then appeared to say, “[Expletive] him,” to the dugout.

Dalton Rushing's disgraceful Jung Hoo Lee moment draws the ire of Giants fans

Giants fans on social media were quick to go after Rushing for saying something like that.

After Rushing was complaining about the Colorado Rockies and basically accused them of cheating a few days ago, he is officially a Bad Dude in the eyes of Giants fans. He just seems to be a cocky rookie who is very immature.

It’s one thing to compete and play hard in what should be a hotly contested rivalry game, it’s another to say something like that when an opponent is potentially injured. Hopefully Lee’s injury is not too serious, but it really is unfortunate that he hurt himself on a play that should not have happened.

While Rushing came into the game hot, he didn’t do much of anything on Tuesday night. He did not record a hit but drew one walk against Giants starter Landen Roupp before getting pinch hit for later in the game with LA’s usual catcher Will Smith.

Even after drawing that walk he was jawing at Roupp so the 25-year-old catcher seems like he is going to be very easy to despise for as long as he's a Dodger.

At least the Giants got the last laugh as they took the first game of the series 3-1. Hopefully they get two more wins and keep Rushing in check to teach him a lesson.
