Well, here we go again. The SF Giants seemingly retaliated against Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing for some ugly words he seemed to direct towards Jung Hoo Lee after Lee was injured at home plate during Tuesday’s game.

Giants starter Logan Webb drilled Rushing in the ribs in the sixth inning of Thursday’s game. Webb slyly denied any intent after the game, but fans who have been following this saga know better. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he thought it was intentional but seemed fine with the fact that Webb was protecting his teammate.

Rushing was clearly not happy about getting drilled and when the next batter hit a ground ball to second baseman Luis Arraez and Arraez tried to turn two, Rushing slid into shortstop Willy Adames’ legs in what seemed to be his own retaliation. Rushing was called out due to runner's interference on the play. It was a dirty slide that Adames was thankfully not injured on. Arraez even called the slide dirty after the game.

Rushing tried to claim on Wednesday that he did not say what cameras clearly picked up on Tuesday night and said he wished Lee nothing but the best. Many fans felt that his words were disingenuous. Even Dodgers fans weren't buying it as it was pretty clear the rookie was just trying to save face.

This comes after the Giants had a similar situation with the Cincinnati Reds last week. The Giants hit Spencer Steer on purpose after he had some crude words for JT Brubaker the night before. The Reds responded by hitting Willy Adames and tensions boiled over as benches cleared when Erik Miller struck out Sal Stewart and had some words for him to end the game.

Rushing is quickly becoming an enemy around the league. He made asinine comments recently about the Colorado Rockies, basically accusing them of cheating or at the very least something "fishy" because they recorded hits on multiple first-pitch breaking balls.

He's clearly just a young rookie feeling himself after getting hot at the plate recently. His cockiness was bound to catch up with him eventually so maybe that fastball from Webb is what he needed to humble him just a little bit.

The Dodgers did not retaliate against the Giants by hitting anyone. LA won the game 3-0 so they probably didn't want to be giving out free passes especially since they already lost the first two games of the series.

If Hunter Strickland taught us anything though, these things can have ramifications much later on. Don't be shocked if someone on the Giants gets drilled intentionally by a Dodgers pitcher at some point this season even if it does not happen on Thursday.

Or maybe even the Dodgers will accept the truth that what Rushing was caught on camera saying was disgraceful and are fine with the Giants retaliating. They probably want that big head to shrink a little bit too.

One thing is for sure: Giants fans will not forget Rushing's behavior in this series anytime soon.
