It's now or never for the SF Giants.

There is only one way SF Giants can sneak into the playoffs now

Literally, now or never. The San Francisco Giants' recent loss to the Dodgers sent them back below .500 for the first time since their 11-1 stretch, which propelled them back into playoff contention.

While the season is not over yet, it will be soon. The Giants are back to three games behind the Mets with nine games remaining. And the Mets have the triebreaker, meaning three games is really more like four games.

Realistically, the Giants can't lose another game all season. If the Mets finish 5-4 down the stretch, San Francisco would need to win out to make the playoffs. If the Mets finish 4-5, the Giants would need to go 8-1. It's unrealistic to think the Mets would go any worse than 3-6 down the stretch, considering they still play three games against the Nationals and three against the Marlins.

The good news is we've seen the Giants pull off this kind of winning streak before. Just a month ago, when Rafael Devers and Willy Adames got scorching hot, the team won 11 of 12 games. Could it happen again?

The Giants need to hope they can catch lightning in a bottle twice. They have three games against the Dodgers, followed by three against the Cardinals and Rockies. The Dodgers will be a challenge, but the Cardinals and Rockies are beatable.

If the Giants are going to win out and ride into the playoffs, it will need to start with the bats. The offense will need to get going again. In their last seven games, San Francisco is dead last in team OPS, at .479. Over the past 15 games, their .624 OPS ranks 26th. It's been a rough two weeks for the Giants' bats.

San Francisco has real star power in their lineup, and it needs those stars to carry the load. Devers, Adames, and Chapman will need to be at the top of their game going forward if the Giants are going to sneak into the postseason.

It's a long-shot, but it is still possible. It has to start today.
