The 2026 season did not have a lot of great moments for the SF Giants, but we’ve tried our best to find some of the better ones. When looking back on the 2026 season the main moment on the field that elicits pure joy, and a little bit of disbelief, is Bryce Eldridge’s walk-off grand slam.
That moment was unlikely for so many reasons. The Giants were down 9-1 in the eighth inning of that June game against the Washington Nationals but mounted a comeback for the ages by scoring five runs in the eight inning, allowing one run in the top of the tenth just to make it a little harder on themselves, and then walking it off in the bottom on the ninth by scoring five more runs.
What makes the bottom of the ninth even crazier is the fact that the Giants didn’t make a single out in the inning. There were a couple doubles, a walk, and a single that made the game 10-7 as Eldridge came to the plate with the bases loaded. When a team is down three and the bases are loaded, naturally everyone is thinking grand slam. It so rarely happens, especially for a team like the 2026 Giants but for whatever reason this very bad team excelled when it came to hitting grand slams.
Eldridge got a 2-0 count against a left-handed pitcher who was brought into the game to face Eldridge and, in a sign of respect to the rookie, gave him a slider. He certainly hung it as it was right out over the plate but Eldridge was out in front of it a little and hit it very high down the right field line even though he didn’t get all of it.

Duane Kuiper’s call is perfect because he starts a little tepidly into his “High drive…” but almost stops himself as if to say, ‘This is the 2026 Giants, don’t get too excited, this is probably going to be caught by the right fielder and then the next two guys will strike out.’
Yet, the ball kept on going somehow. Kuiper goes quiet for a moment… “right FIELD,” as he realizes it has enough to get out, and then the cathartic, “OUTTA HERE,” to officially enshrine it as a Giants moment for the ages.
Eldridge slam was one of the more unlikely moments of 2026 season
It was the signature moment of a very good rookie campaign for Eldridge. If he ends up being one of those foundational Giants players who sticks around for ten years or more then that clip will be played over and over and that will be the definitive moment when we knew that Eldridge was something special.
To top it all off, the walk-off was proceeded by Mike Krukow dropping a hilarious line in response to Kuip saying they may have to go more than just “tarps off” if Eldridge hit it out. Kruk, maybe knowing then that this was going to be his last year and figuring he wouldn’t get fired at this point, said, “I’m gonna hold you to it. Drop trou, hog out.”
A little vulgar? Sure. Pretty hilarious? Absolutely.
That’s why it’s fitting that the only moment that topped Eldridge’s slam involved Mike Krukow himself.
