Awful Announcing's annual radio booth rankings are out, and the SF Giants radio crew has claimed first place which is a high honor indeed although it does not come as a huge shock.

The team, which is led by Dave Flemming and Jon Miller on the radio side, also includes Duane Kuiper, Joe Ritzo, Mike Krukow, and F.P. Santangelo.

This is better than the third place finish San Francisco's TV crew received from Awful Announcing earlier this season.

The Giants radio crew beat out an impressive top five, with the rival San Diego Padres radio crew finishing in second place, the Chicago Cubs crew in third, the Cleveland Guardians crew in fourth and the New York Mets crew rounding out the top five.

In the fan poll, the Giants radio crew received an overwhelming majority of "A's," from the voters. 70.2 percent of fans gave the Giants an A. They were the only team with over 70 percent of A's from voters, and one of only two teams to top 60 percent. The Padres were still quite behind, with 63 percent of votes coming in the A category.

Perhaps more impressive was the Giants' lack of haters. 94.2 percent of voters have the San Francisco radio crew a grade of C or higher, and only 14 voters graded them as an F.

With a regular rotation of voices between TV and Radio, it is surprising to see fans so supportive no matter the combination.

“No matter who it is when you tune in, it’s always one of the best booths in sports,” commented one voter.

Another voter called them “The best announcing group there is in baseball.”

One commenter did comment on the Giants' rotation being a bit too much.

“Same problem that Boston has, too many voices."

Most of the comments were overwhelmingly positive of Flemming and Miller, with some voters perhaps wishing the duo broadcast every game together.

“Jon and Dave are arguably the best. When they are not on, it drops to a C," said one voter who gave them an A.

“Elite crew, Flemming and Miller are fantastic," said another voter.

“Joe and FP are really bad and make it sound like minor league ball," commented another voter, who still gave the crew an overall grade of A.

Ultimately, while there are still some fans skeptical of the Giants alternate radio broadcast team, the majority of fans were overwhelmingly positive, and San Francisco can rest easy knowing it is first place in something.
