In their latest rankings, Awful Announcing has ranked the SF Giants broadcast team as the third best in the MLB. This is a drop from their ranking in 2024, but they are obviously still among the best regarded announcers in baseball.

It is an impressive rating for the crew, which includes Duane Kuiper, Mike Krukow, Dave Flemming, Jon Miller, Javier Lopez, Shawn Estes and Hunter Pence.

SF Giants broadcast crew sees drop in Awful Announcing Rankings

The ranking apparently was determined based on a poll from fans. 54.4 percent of fans gave the Giants a grade of A, the third most in the league. Only the San Diego Padres and New York Mets had more A grades.

90.8 percent of fans gave the broadcast crew a grade of either A, B or C. They received only 59 F's.

Believe it or not, the broadcast team is actually on a downward trend. Between 2019 and 2023, the Giants ranked in first place four out of five years. In 2024, they finished in second place in the rankings. This year, they slipped to third place. It's not the top, but it is impressive to say the least. Clearly, fans in San Francisco are satisfied with their broadcast team!

Some comments from fans included the following, according to Awful Announcing:

"“The cream of the crop, and it’s not particularly close,”

“The absolute best in the business, TV and radio."

“Great guys that love baseball and it shows. They are timeless.”

Most of the criticism of the crew was centered around them being old and tired. They have been around for a while, with Krukow having been in the booth since 1993 and Kuiper since 1994. In their over 30 years together, they've developed quite the cadence. It's almost unfair to the rest of the league's broadcast teams that they have to be compared to a duo of announcers who've been together for so long and have such a special relationship.

Perhaps next year, the Giants will reclaim the top spot as the best broadcast crew in the MLB, but third place still gives them plenty of bragging rights. Let's hope they also get enshrined together in Cooperstown someday which is what they deserve.
