The SF Giants (2-0) will take on the Los Angeles Angels (1-1) in Cactus League play on Monday, February 24th. This will be a split squad game for the Giants with the other half of their squad taking on the Colorado Rockies at Scottsdale Stadium.

The Giants have gotten off to a strong start in spring training. While these games obviously do not count, there have been positive signs in camp thus far with top prospect Bryce Eldridge hitting a huge home run in his spring debut and staff ace Logan Webb, who was just unsurprisingly named as the team's Opening Day starter for the fourth consecutive season, looking sharp in two innings of work on Sunday.

Who will be the starting pitchers for the game?

The Giants will have the young pitcher Mason Black start the game against the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Black made his MLB debut last season and had a bit of a rough debut campaign, although his rookie status is still active through 2025.

He had a 6.44 ERA in 36 and 1/3 innings pitched on the season, although he did have a strong start in September against the Kansas City Royals in which he pitched 5 and 2/3 scoreless innings. He will look to build upon that start in 2025.

He has an outside shot at making the team's rotation to start the year with names like Kyle Harrison, Hayden Birdsong, and Landen Roupp ahead of him on the depth chart.

The Los Angeles Angels will have veteran pitcher Kyle Hendricks start the game for them. The 35-year-old has only ever pitched for the Chicago Cubs in the big leagues, so this will be his first season pitching for another big league team. He had a rough campaign in 2024, posting a 5.92 ERA in 130 and 2/3 innings pitched on the season.

What will the Giants' lineup look like?

This is the lineup the Giants will send out against the Angels per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle:

Projected SF Giants starting lineup vs. Angels

1. CF Grant McCray (L)

2. LF Marco Luciano (R)

3. RF Mike Yastrzemski (L)

4. 1B Jerar Encarnacion (R)

5. DH Patrick Bailey (S)

6. C Sam Huff (R)

7. 3B Jake Lamb (L)

8. 2B Brett Wisely (L)

9. SS Osleivis Basabe (R)

Some things to look out for with this lineup are how Encarnacion fares defensively at first base. Most of the first base conversation has centered around Wilmer Flores and LaMonte Wade Jr., but if Encarnacion can make the team he could be another option for the team at first.

Catcher Sam Huff had a great debut with the Giants on Saturday, blasting an impressive home run against his former team in the Texas Rangers. With catcher Tom Murphy being injured, that could open the door for someone like Huff to swoop in and steal the backup catcher role.

How can I watch or listen to the game?

As of right now, the MLB app shows that the Angels will broadcast their game on FanDuel Sports West and will carry the game on the radio through KLAA 830. Unfortunately, that means there will not be any Giants broadcasters to call the game. We can always watch to it on mute, though. First pitch will be at 12:10 PM PST.
