Last season it seemed like Marco Luciano's future with the SF Giants was uncertain. Now, he is showing off his power in Triple-A which may force the Giants to call him up to the big leagues sooner rather than later.

Luciano's struggles last season wore off the sheen of his top prospect status. He did not hit well in the big leagues and he struggled defensively to the point where he was moved to the outfield after long being thought of as the shortstop of the future.

SF Giants may be forced to call up Marco Luciano after impressive power showing

2025 seemed like a bit of a re-set year for him where he could try and get back on track. Early on in Triple-A he was a mixed bag, but as of late he has really started to impress more with his bat.

Just a few days ago, Luciano had a two-homer game. One of his home runs was a mighty 464-foot shot which shows that when he really gets a hold of one it can go a long way.

His overall numbers are not great. He is currently slashing .222/.350/.416, but he has nine home runs and 29 runs batted in which both lead the River Cats.

The Giants probably want that batting average to be a bit higher, but one cannot deny the fact that he is hitting the ball very hard when he does make contact.

We know San Francisco's offense has been scuttling as of late. There are not many options for the team to give themselves a boost in the lineup. Jerar Encarnacion seems like he could return to the Giants soon if his rehab assignment goes well. But outside of him, Luciano may represent the best chance for the Giants to shake things up a little bit.

Barring an injury, the Giants would probably have to demote Luis Matos to make room for Luciano on the big league roster. Matos has not done a ton offensively for the Giants outside of the three home runs he has hit so the Giants may want to see if they can get more production from Luciano even if he may not get a ton of at-bats.

Luciano's overall numbers still leave some to be desired. But if he keeps on hitting mammoth homers the Giants may have no other choice than to call him up and see if he can start hitting some bombs for the big league club.
