We last saw SF Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper making an emotional speech at Mike Krukow's farewell on the last day of the regular season, but he made an appearance at Sunday night's Golden State Warriors game.
Kuiper was wearing a Golden State Valkyries hat to support the Bay Area's WNBA team which brought home a championship on Saturday night, a pretty remarkable feat considering it was only the team's second season in existence.
The beloved broadcaster rang a bell and took off his Valkyries hat and raised it to the crowd as he smiled and appeared to be in really good spirits. Below is a picture of Kuiper at the game shared by the iconic "no context giants" account on social media:

While Kuiper making an appearance at a Warriors game may not be all that noteworthy any other year other than for the fact that it's cool to see him supporting other Bay Area teams, it is important to note that at the end of September Kuiper announced that he was diagnosed with throat cancer and was undergoing treatment.
It was an absolute gut punch to the fanbase at the end of a very trying season especially since Kuiper has dealt with health issues in the past, but the fact that he is feeling well enough to make a public appearance like he did Sunday night is really encouraging.
Giants have not announced plan to replace Mike Krukow yet
While Krukow's retirement is still difficult to even fully process, at the very least we will still get to listen to Kuiper next season. It won't be the same without Kruk beside him, but he is charming and entertaining enough that he will still be fun to listen to no matter who serves as the color commentator beside him.
Odds are the Giants will employ some sort of rotation to try to fill the gaping hole left by Krukow but having Kuiper in the fold will at least ensure that there's come continuity and we won't have to say goodbye to two legends at the same time. Expect guys like Hunter Pence, Javier Lopez, and Shawn Estes to factor into the mix although there could be some dark horses as well.
Kuiper is one of the best to ever do it so one hopes he will make a full recovery and will remain the play-by-play man in San Francisco for as long as he wants.
