The SF Giants major league coaching staff will have a different look in 2026, especially on the hitting side. Those changes are taking place on the minor league side as well.

The Giants still have not finalized their coaching staff, which is a bit odd this late into the offseason. That might just be a formality at this point, as many of the new coaches are already in Arizona working with Giants players.

They reportedly have added Hunter Mense as a hitting coach. He had served as an assistant hitting coach for the Toronto Blue Jays for the past four seasons. Assistant hitting coach Oscar Bernard is one of the few holdovers from the previous staff to be retained.

That is not the only changes taking place on the hitting side. The San Jose Giants, Eugene Emeralds, and Richmond Flying Squirrels have finalized their coaching staffs for 2026.

For the most part, those staffs look the same as they did last season. The notable exception is Eugene’s coaching staff, which will now be led by former Giants outfield prospect Jacob Heyward. Heyward served as the manager for the Arizona Complex League (ACL) Giants for the past three seasons.

Heyward is bringing a new coaching staff to the Emeralds. Braxton Lee will be taking over as hitting coach, replacing Jared Walker. Walker had worked in that role for two seasons, and has since taken a role as a hitting coordinator in the Texas Rangers organization.

On the other hand, Lee had worked on Heyward’s coaching staff with the ACL Giants. They will both get a chance to coach players who they worked with in rookie ball not that long ago.

Mike Marjama is replacing Travis Ishikawa as the hitting coach for the San Jose Giants. Ishikawa will remain with the organization in a different capacity that has not yet been announced.

Marjama had a brief major league career with the Seattle Mariners, and has spent the past couple of seasons as a minor league hitting coach in the Miami Marlins organization. This includes a one-year stint as the hitting coach for their Triple-A affiliate.

Tommy Everidge is taking over for Cory Elasik as the hitting coach for Richmond. Elasik had worked in that role for three seasons.

Everidge has a good bit of coaching experience. He was named the hitting coach for the A’s before the 2022 season, and held onto that role for two seasons. Over the past couple of years, Everidge has served as a hitting coach with the Washington Nationals organization.
