The SF Giants have been connected to free agent ace Corbin Burnes. He is the last remaining ace on the free agent market, and the current ace of the Giants, Logan Webb, is completely on board with the idea of Burnes in a Giants uniform.

Webb appeared recently on The Chris Rose Rotation show and discussed a number of topics, including Willy Adames signing with the Giants and Blake Snell joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. The full interview can be watched here.

The sinkerballer sounded thrilled when discussing the addition of Adames. He spoke about how, as a pitcher who induces a lot of ground balls, he is excited by the prospect of having such a strong left side of the infield with Matt Chapman at third base and Adames at shortstop. Webb also noted that Adames just seems to be universally liked by players and coaches across the game and that he feels the energy he brings to the Giants will be very beneficial.

SF Giants ace clearly wants team to land Corbin Burnes

Webb also said multiple times that he is happy for Blake Snell signing with the Dodgers. Obviously, he is not thrilled that Snell ended up on the arch rival of the Giants, but it seems that Webb and Snell became good friends during their one season together in San Francisco so he was happy to see his friend get such a large contract. Giants fans may not love that response, but it shows that Webb really is a good guy and a good teammate.

Webb made it clear that he does not think that president of baseball operations Buster Posey is done adding. Rose asked Webb specifically about the possibility of the Giants signing Burnes and he could not hide his excitement at the idea of that.

"If Corbin comes out here and throws and then I throw the next day, I mean, it's literally perfect the way we're the complete opposite...It's almost like a perfect match," said Webb.

He seems to think that adding Burnes would be a perfect complement to him at the top of the rotation and it is easy to see why. While both are right-handed, Burnes' signature pitch is a sharp cutter that breaks away from right-handed hitters while Webb's signature pitch is a heavy sinker that bores in on righties. Hitters would not have a fun time facing those two guys on back-to-back days.

Rose pressed Webb on whether he has talked to Burnes at all this offseason, to which Webb coyly replied, "Maybe," before breaking out into laughter. It is clear Webb has touched base with the ace so maybe he can sway Burnes into returning to the West Coast where he played his college ball.

Adding Burnes would bolster the SF Giants rotation and fill the hole left by Snell. It would also make me look like a fool. Giants fans want it to happen, and it is clear one of the best players on the Giants wants it to happen as well.
