The SF Giants are probably not done adding to their team after signing shortstop Willy Adames. However, their roster will probably not look appreciably different even if they sign a big free agent like starting pitcher Corbin Burnes.

That is why it is a useful exercise to try and project what the Opening Day 26-man roster could look like for the Giants in 2025. We have already projected what the lineup will look like with Adames now on the team.

Let's start off with what the pitching staff could look like for the Giants, beginning with the starting rotation.

Projecting SF Giants 2025 Opening Day roster

Projected SF Giants starting rotation: Logan Webb, Robbie Ray, Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison, Hayden Birdsong

This rotation could look a little different if the Giants were to add Burnes. Birdsong would probably start the season in Triple-A, but other than that this rotation looks pretty locked in. President of baseball operations Buster Posey already confirmed that Hicks will be rejoining the rotation after he was demoted to the bullpen in 2024 midseason due to fatigue.

There could be some competition for that fifth spot in the rotation in Spring Training, but Birdsong may get the nod for how strong he looked at times in his rookie season. Now let's take a look at the bullpen.

Projected SF Giants bullpen: Landen Roupp, Sean Hjelle, Spencer Bivens, Erik Miller, Taylor Rogers, Camilo Doval, Tyler Rogers, Ryan Walker

Posey has seemed to suggest the Giants are not interested in shopping Doval despite his rough 2024. The back end of the bullpen seems pretty set with Tyler Rogers in the 8th and Ryan Walker in the 9th. It would probably be wise to have relievers who can give you some length like Roupp and Bivens especially with young arms in the rotation who can be unreliable at times.

Projected SF Giants infielders: Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, Tyler Fitzgerald, LaMonte Wade Jr., Wilmer Flores, Casey Schmitt,

The Adames signing does a lot to solidify the infield for the Giants. Third base, shortstop, and second base are all set with the only question mark coming at first base although it seems like the Giants may roll with Wade and Flores there. Schmitt provides some depth for the team and could end up seeing playing time at second if Fitzgerald struggles.

Projected SF Giants outfielders: Jung Hoo Lee, Heliot Ramos, Mike Yastrzemski, Grant McCray, Jerar Encarnación

The outfield seems set with Ramos in left, Lee in center, and Yastrzemski in right. McCray showed promise in his 2024 debut and at the very least would provide solid defense and be a threat as a pinch runner. Encarnación could also be an interesting DH option for the team.

Projected SF Giants catchers: Patrick Bailey, Tom Murphy

Patrick Bailey is a Gold Glove caliber catcher for the Giants and is a huge part of the team. Tom Murphy can only improve on 2024 after he struggled mightily before getting injured in May and not returning the rest of the season.

The Giants can make some additions to the roster, but the core of it seems pretty set.
