The SF Giants made a big splash by landing star shortstop Willy Adames. They now have a big power threat in the middle of the order. Let's take a look at what a Giants lineup could look like in 2025 with the 29-year-old slugger in it.

SF Giants lineup projection for 2025 after Willy Adames signing

1. CF Jung Hoo Lee

Lee appears to be on track to be ready for Opening Day next season after his shoulder injury sidelined him for most of 2024. He showed promise as a threat at the top of the order in his brief 2024 stint, so let's hope a full season allows him to take a step forward.

2. 2B Tyler Fitzgerald

With Adames as the shortstop, 2024 breakout rookie Tyler Fitzgerald seems likely to slide over to second base. His speed makes him an enticing player to put toward the top of the order especially with Lee ahead of him. Both him and Lee could wreak havoc and put pressure on opposing teams from the top of the order.

3. LF Heliot Ramos

Another young breakout player from 2024, Heliot Ramos seemed comfortable in the No. 3 spot in the lineup last season. His 22 home runs in 121 games suggest he could have a 30-homer campaign in a full season. He is the perfect power threat to back up the speed of Lee and Fitzgerald.

4. SS Willy Adames

Adames is not a high-contact hitter, but he has plenty of thump in his bat. He blasted 32 home runs in 2024, 24 in 2023, and 31 in 2022. It may be premature to say he will be the first Giants hitter to hit 30 homers in a season since Barry Bonds given the picher-friendly confines and cool air of Oracle Park. But, he is clearly a serious power threat who should be the clean-up hitter of the future for the Giants.

5. 3B Matt Chapman

Chapman and Adames will play right next to each other in the field, so why shouldn't they be right next to each other in the lineup as well? Perhaps there will be a fun yearly competition between Chapman and Adames to see who can hit the most homers in a season. Chapman hit 27 in 2024 so it could be pretty close.

6. 1B LaMonte Wade Jr.

While Wade could be a potential trade candidate for the Giants, his high on base percentage makes him a valuable piece in the lineup. If the Giants keep him, he could be a table setter for the bottom of the order. The Giants could also opt to use him in a platoon with Wilmer Flores at who is looking to bounce back from a rough 2024.

7. RF Mike Yastrzemski

The Giants signed Yastrzemski to a one-year contract to avoid arbitration. At this point, we know what to expect from Yaz. He is a streaky hitter who is not going to hit for average but he can hit the ball out of the ballpark while providing solid defense, being a good baserunner, and providing leadership in the clubhouse.

8. DH Jerar Encarnación

The Giants have several interesting internal options to serve as designated hitter next season. Chief among them is Jerar Encarnación who flashed his power by hitting 5 home runs in 113 at-bats. After the Jorge Soler deal did not work last season, the Giants may opt for a lower-cost option at DH like Encarnación.

9. C Patrick Bailey

Catcher Patrick Bailey is more valuable for his glove than his bat, but he can still get hot at the plate and hit the ball out of the ballpark at times. He is not a bad guy to have in the nine spot of the lineup.

The addition of Adames makes the 3-4-5 spots in the order look much more formidable. If the Giants can have Ramos, Adames, and Chapman all hit 20-something home runs next season, that would be huge for the Giants as they try to put together a more sustainable lineup for 2025.
