Pitcher who spent time with both SF Giants and Dodgers in 2025 lands with 3rd team

He has bounced around quite a bit this season.

Former SF Giants pitcher Lou Trivino has found a new home. The veteran reliever just signed with the Philadelphia Phillies after spending time with both the Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers this season.

Trivino is something of a feel-good story this season. Prior to this season, he had not pitched in the big leagues since 2022. He underwent Tommy John surgery which kept him out of the big leagues for a few years, but he signed with the Giants ahead of this season to reunite with his old manager Bob Melvin who he pitched for back in Oakland.

The veteran righty was great in spring training and earned himself a spot on the big league roster. However, his time with the Giants this season was fairly short lived as he pitched to a 5.84 ERA in 11 appearances and was let go to make room for Kyle Harrison early in the year.

The Dodgers swooped in and snagged him which seemed like a very wise move at first since Trivino pitched well in the dreaded Dodger Blue. His ERA jumped up to 3.76 in 26 appearances by the end of his time with the Dodgers after a few rough outings towards the end of his time there led to him being released.

Now, Trivino finds himself with the Phillies. They make sense as a destination for him since their bullpen has struggled all season. Philadelphia even seemed like an ideal trade partner for the Giants ahead of the trade deadline given the strength of San Francisco’s bullpen.

The Giants did end up selling from their bullpen, just not to the Phillies. Things definitely look different without Tyler Rogers in the eighth and Camilo Doval in the ninth, but those moves seemed necessary with how badly the Giants played leading into the trade deadline.

There have been some bumps in the road with San Francisco's new bullpen configuration, yet it is doubtful that the team has any regrets about moving on from Trivino when they did.

Trivino now finds himself with a strong NL playoff contender so perhaps we will see him in October and be reminded of his brief and not very memorable Giants career.
