New SF Giants foul pole advertisement at Oracle Park doesn't make much sense

A bid of a head-scratcher...

The SF Giants have made a minor change to Oracle Park ahead of the new season. It’s not a super noticeable change, but the team now has Chick-fil-A advertisements on each of the foul poles.

Last year the big change at Oracle was the new video board element to the massive Coke bottle in left field, this year it is the foul poles.

The right field foul pole now reads, “Chikin Iz Fare” and the left field foul pole reads, “Root 4 Tha Chikin.” A picture of each foul pole can be viewed below:

It’s a bit ironic that the Giants are advertising a franchise that does not even have a physical location within the city limits of San Francisco. There is not a location within Oracle Park either.

Maybe Chick-fil-A figured that with a lot more eyeballs on Oracle Park on Wednesday when the Giants host the New York Yankees on Opening Night, since the game will be broadcast on Netflix, it’s worth throwing some money at the Giants to get ads on the foul poles.

Obviously, a big reason that there are no Chick-fil-A restaurants in San Francisco is because of the controversy stemming from the company’s past support of anti-LGBTQ organizations. While the company has tried to move away from that reputation, there are a lot of people who still disagree with what the company has done in the past.

Former San Francisco mayor Ed Lee was famously against Chick-fil-A’s expansion into the city so this has been an ongoing issue for years.

Some locations have opened in other Bay Area cities, but there are no San Francisco locations currently.

There will be some other new things about the Giants this season. Oracle Park has a new, larger scoreboard this season which broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow commented on during Monday night's broadcast of the exhibition game between the Giants and the Mexican League team Sultanes de Monterrey.

The team will also have a new patch on their jerseys for the company Airwallex. It replaces the Chevy patches that the team wore last season.

The Giants also debuted their new Fiesta Gigantes look last night and they will wear those uniforms during Saturday home games this year.

It’s a new year and 2026 will be the first year we see a picture of a cow and a Chick-fil-A ad as a ball soars into McCovey Cove for a Splash Hit. There's always something new going on at Oracle.
