SF Giants fans will never forget the controversial, short-lived Cruise patches that debuted on the team's jerseys back in 2023. They only lasted until 2024, but now it seems a new strange company will grace the team's uniform in 2026.
The Giants announced on Wednesday that a patch for the company Airwallex will now be featured on the team's jersey sleeves this season. The patches can be viewed here. Predictably, Giants fans wasted absolutely no time roasting the new patch.

Some called the new patch, "Gross," on social media and others said that these patches were even worse than the Cruise ones. One social media user even called them "distractingly ugly."
There was a similar backlash to the Cruise patches especially after that company, which was a driverless car company, went belly up. Last season the Giants had a patch on their jersey sleeves representing Chevrolet which was not as reviled because it at least incorporated, orange and black into it and was not as intrusive. Plus, it did not have a weird-looking car on it like Cruise.
The Airwallex one is pretty simple. It just says the company's name in black and white lettering with the company's strange logo in orange. If you're wondering what Airwallex is, that's a good question. It is a financial technology company founded in Australia and apparently they had enough money to throw at the Giants to get them to put a patch on their sleeve.
Of course, some Giants fans will roll their eyes at the Giants making money-grab deals like this while the ownership group will also say that the team does not want to spend a ton of money on free agents. It's an understandable frustration that won't change until the Giants start turning things around on the field.
Jersey alterations will always draw the ire of fans. The new City Connect jerseys from last year were certainly polarizing with their interesting font and incorporation of purple. At least the team's new spring training look has drawn some positive reviews from fans.
Ultimately, if the Giants have a good season this year and make the playoffs for the first time since 2021, then fans will forget all about the strange patch on their sleeve. Until then though, fans can't complain about the product on the field so the jerseys will have to take the heat for now,
