Leaked SF Giants City Connect uniforms are sure to be divisive

The SF Giants are one of several MLB teams getting new City Connect uniforms for the 2025 season. The uniform has apparently leaked on social media and it is not a pretty sight to behold. The uniform can be viewed below:

Now, we do not know if this jersey is the confirmed City Connect look for the Giants in 2025. If it is, though...it is going to take some getting used to.

The font is a bit silly and cartoonish in nature. They may have even been going for a sort of graffiti look which some may find appealing but is just a bit jarring initially. What is the most odd about the uniform is the inclusion of the color purple. The last time I checked, the Giants do not wear purple and never have. This is nothing against the color purple in general, but its inclusion on a San Francisco Giants uniform is baffling to say the least.

We also have a look at what the back of the jersey looks like:

Again, the purple trim just seems wholly out of place and makes it look like a weird Phoenix Suns uniform or something.

San Francisco's previous City Connect uniforms were white and orange with a fog gradient on the logo which were also polarizing when they first debuted in 2021. Last year they were voted among the worst City Connect uniforms in baseball and it was announced after the season that the Giants would not be wearing them in 2025.

While those uniforms were not my favorite, they look pretty good compared to this leaked uniform circulating online.

One hopes that maybe the purple uniforms were a first draft of sorts and that the final product, sans any purple, will be revealed soon.

While social media reactions to the uniform have been largely negative, which, to my knowledge, is the first time any new thing has been met with any sort of negativity online, there may be some out there who like the uniforms which is their right.

We do not yet know what the hat or pants will look like as part of the uniform, so maybe with the full uniform together it will look a little bit better. Or worse.

Ultimately, most people will not care what the Giants' uniforms look like so long as they win. We will have to see if these uniforms really are what the Giants are going to wear this season. If it is, they will surely be polarizing but anything new is always going to be met with criticism and derision. Call me biased, but the purple is just a bridge too far for me. Maybe I will be proven wrong.
