Complete list of SF Giants trade candidates as team limps into trade deadline

The SF Giants are going to sell at the trade deadline and as far as we know there are no untouchables except for Logan Webb. With the team currently looking like it is going to limp into the deadline, that means pretty much anyone could be dealt so let’s break down the complete list of every player who could realistically be traded in the coming weeks.

Giants starting pitchers who could be traded

Robbie Ray

It is almost certain Ray will be traded and many teams looking for a starter should come calling for his services.

Landen Roupp

While Landen Roupp has looked better as of late, it’s been an uneven season for him. Maybe a team would want him but the Giants probably view him as a piece of the rotation going forward.

Tyler Mahle

He shouldn’t draw as big of a return as Ray but he’s also a free agent after this season so the Giants should deal him to a team looking for a back-end starter.

Bullpen arms that might be dealt

Adrian Houser

The Giants would probably love to trade Houser who started the year in the rotation but is now in the bullpen. He’s owed $11 million next year though so the Giants would have to pay that down to get any takers.

Sam Hentges, JT Brubaker, Jason Foley

All three of these guys are free agents after the season so if anyone wants them the Giants would be foolish not to deal them. 

Keaton Winn, Erik Miller, Caleb Kilian, Dylan Smith

The Giants should definitely listen on these relievers, but there’s a case to keep them if they feel any could be part of next year’s bullpen since they will be under team control beyond this year. There’s also a case to be made for tearing it all down and starting anew.

Infielders who may be on the move

Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, Rafael Devers

We know the Giants are open to trading away their big contracts, but with how much money they’re owed and the no-trade clauses for Adames and Chapman it just feels like it will be too difficult to trade any of them.

Luis Arraez and Casey Schmitt

For a long time it has seemed like the Giants will have to decide between Arraez and Schmitt. Since an extension seems out of the cards for Arraez that likely means he will be dealt but the Giants will probably listen on Schmitt as well.

Bryce Eldridge

Maybe there's some world in which the Giants get a great offer for Eldridge in exchange for some top-shelf pitching prospects but that seems unlikely. Eldridge should definitely be alongside Webb in the untouchable category but maybe there's a one-percent chance he's dealt if the Giants get a crazy offer.

Outfielders potentially on the way out

Harrison Bader, Jung Hoo Lee, Heliot Ramos

There’s a case to be made for trading at least one or two of these players. It’s unclear what the Giants will do with Jung Hoo Lee since some reporters have viewed him as unlikely to be moved. 

Bader is currently injured but the Giants should try to trade him if they can since he has not been great this year and they should roll with other options in the outfield.

Heliot Ramos would make sense for teams in need of a bat-first outfielder like the New York Yankees so don’t be surprised if he gets traded especially since Victor Bericoto has shown promise.

The Giants obviously can’t trade all of these players since it would be hard to replace twenty guys on the roster but they cannot be too sacred with anyone because changes will be necessary if the team’s fortunes are going to change.
