SF Giants third baseman Matt Chapman had a solid series over the weekend against the Miami Marlins. He also responded to a viral social media post that compared him to a famous actor and a former Giants great.

In response to a photo posted on MLB's social media account showing Chapman being greeted in the dugout after a home run, social media user Mike Beauvais had a very astute observation, writing: "Matt Chapman looks like Pedro Pascal playing Jeff Kent."

Once you read that, you really cannot unsee it. With Chapman's mustache he really does have a resemblance to the world-famous actor and the former Giants great who was the National League MVP in 2000.

When asked about the post, Chapman said, "That’s two people I’m not too [expletive] off about. Pedro Pascal is amazing, I love ‘Game of Thrones,’ and obviously, Jeff Kent with those kinds of numbers he put up, I think I’d be doing all right.”

Chapman's mustache really is similar to Pascal's. GQ described Pascal's look as "rakish" and that would definitely seem to be a fitting description for Chapman. The five-time Gold Glove winner usually sports a mustache whether it is May or not, and you can even see his mustache develop over the course of the month in a recent video posted to the team's social feed.

Kent certainly had some good facial hair as well. Some considered his mustache among the best in the game. Facial hair aside, he delivered some fantastic seasons for the Giants in the late-90's and early 2000's including that phenomenal MVP campaign when he slashed .334/.424/.596 with 33 home runs and 125 RBI.

While Chapman may not be capable of an MVP season like that for the Giants, he is still one of the best defensive third basemen in all of baseball. The Giants thankfully have him locked up for a long time so we will get to see a lot more of the Pascal-Kent hybrid over the years.

Who knows, maybe someday this social media post will prove to be prophetic someday if Pascal ever does play Kent in a movie. His career would have to take a very interesting detour for that to occur, but never say never. Let's just hope Chapman gets invited to the premiere.
