The SF Giants square off against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight in the first of a three-game series at Oracle Park. There are already fears that Dodger fans could take over the ballpark as they have in the past.
Earlier this season when the Giants and Dodgers played at Oracle, the seas of blue in the ballaprk were very noticeable and annoying. Giants players even commented on it after the Friday night game. If the players are annoyed by it you know that Giants fans must be absolutely sick because of it. It is not a fun sight to see all that nasty blue at Oracle.
Fears that SF Giants fans could be outnumbered by Dodgers fans at Oracle
The Giants tried to fight back by trolling Dodgers fans in unique ways, but the best way to try to combat the sea of blue is to not let it materialize in the first place. Radio host Sam Lubman on 95.7 The Game made an impassioned plea to Giants fans ahead of this weekend's series:
"Giants fans, we need to show up this weekend...If you have tickets, don't sell them, don't let these blue people take over our ballpark. Alright, I am sick and tired of looking out at the 415 section out in right-center field and seeing a sea of Pantone 666."
Lubman's plea will likely find a receptive audience amongst many Giants fans. It remains to be seen if anything will be different this time around but it is sad that this has now become the narrative surrounding the Giants-Dodgers series when these teams meet in San Francisco.
Giants CEO Larry Baer was even asked about it on a recent KNBR appearance as was Mike Krukow so this may simply be something the Giants have to deal with for as long as the dodgers are a good team.
The best way the Giants can deal with it is to just go out and win so all of that blue remains tranquil and quiet out there. The Giants are coming into this series playing good baseball and they are confident so there is no better time for them to try and take down the Dodgers than right now as they have a realistic chance to make the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
