Free agency has slowed down a bit for the SF Giants. They made a big splash by signing shortstop Willy Adames but have been quiet since then. While we wait for the Giants to make a move, let's take a look at five former Giants still without a home in free agency.

It would not be impossible for the Giants to reunite with one of these players, but it seems unlikely. None are a great fit, but many of these players still have something to offer a team in 2025.

5 former SF Giants still without a home going into 2025

1. Donovan Solano

Giants fans will remember Donovan Solano from his three seasons with San Francisco from 2019 to 2021. He won a Silver Slugger in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and was a reliable second baseman for the team. He has continued to be a solid hitter after his time in San Francisco. Last season with the San Diego Padres he slashed .286/.343/.417 with 8 home runs and 35 RBI. He is primarily a first baseman now, but teams would certainly like having a solid hitter like him on the team

2. Connor Joe

Who could forget Forever Giant Connor Joe who was the Opening Day left fielder for the Giants in 2019 and had one hit in 15 at-bats with the Giants before he was let go. When he turned into a solid player with the Colorado Rockies a few years later, it seemed like he could have been the one that got away. He has come back down to earth since then, but he remains an interesting depth piece for teams in need of a first baseman who can play the corner outfield spots.

3. Kevin Pillar

Another Giant from the 2019 season, San Francisco traded for Kevin Pillar early in the 2019 season when it was clear they needed help in the outfield. He had a solid year, slashing .264/.293/.442 with 21 home runs and 87 RBI and won the Willie Mac Award but was non-tendered after the season. He has bounced around a lot since then, but has said that at the age of 36 he still wants to keep playing. He could be a solid veteran outfield depth piece for teams.

4. Nick Ahmed

The Giants signed veteran shortstop Nick Ahmed to a minor league deal last year as insurance in case Marco Luciano was not ready to be the starting shortstop on Opening Day. Ahmed lived up to his billing as a solid defender who does not hit very much. He did end up getting a World Series ring though because he played with the Dodgers for a bit after the Giants let him go. He could be a solid infield depth piece for a team thin at shortstop.

5. J.D. Davis

There was a time not too long ago when Giants fans were seriously debating whether Matt Chapman was a major improvement over J.D. Davis. Oh how young and naive we were. This is not a knock on Davis because he is a solid ballplayer who played well during his time in San Francisco, but after last year it is clear Chapman is a supreme talent which is why the Giants were wise to move on from him. Davis spent time with Oakland and the New York Yankees last season but did not hit all that well. He could still serve as a depth piece for a team needing help at the corner infield spots, though

We will have to wait and see if these former Giants find a home soon or if they will have to wait until closer to the start of the season to sign with a team.
