The World Series begins on Friday night as the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays will square off, each team looking to take home its first title. The SF Giants have been at home all month trying to forget the 2026 season, but Buster Posey and the front office should be taking a long look at the pitchers on both of these teams who will be available this offseason.
Not all of them are currently on their team's World Series roster, but with how badly the Giants need pitching they need to cast a wide net and consider all options. Let's look at four pitchers from the Rays and Brewers who they should definitely be looking at
4 pitchers from Rays and Brewers who would make sense on the Giants
Freddy Peralta
Right-handed starter Freddy Peralta is likely to be one of the most coveted free agent starters available in the offseason. He is a two-time All-Star and was Tampa Bay's ALCS MVP. It's an interesting series for him because just last year he was a still a Brewer but they traded him to the New York Mets who in turn traded him to Tampa after he struggled in the Big Apple.
He will not come cheap by any stretch but he would be an ideal co-ace to Logan Webb and has made 30 or more starts every season since 2023 so the hope is he'd be very durable and reliable at the very least.
Brandon Woodruff
While Brandon Woodruff has not pitched in the playoffs this season for Milwaukee, there is hope he could be on the World Series roster as he tries to come back from injury. He's been very effective in recent seasons when he's been on the mound and this year he had a 2.28 ERA in nine starts.
He's 33 and has a lengthy injury history so he would be a bit of a reclamation project but if the Giants can get him for the right price then he would be a solid addition.
Antonio Senzatela
Acquired from the Colorado Rockies earlier this season by the Brewers, Senzatela has pitched 1 and 2/3 scoreless innings in the playoffs for Milwaukee. While he was a starter in the past, this season he was used exclusively as a reliever and had a 4.05 ERA on the year. Surprisingly, his ERA with the Brewers was much higher than the Rockies. He has a $14 million club option that will probably be declined so the Giants could scoop him up as a bullpen arm.
JoJo Romero
I have already written about how JoJo Romero would be a great fit for the Giants, but after watching how dominant he looked going up against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS it really feels like the lefty could be a great bullpen arm to add to the equation.
The Giants need pitching and both the Rays and Brewers have some great arms on their teams so don't be surprised if one or two of these guys ends up getting signed by San Francisco in the offseason.
