The Outfield Outlook for 2019 is interesting. There is one guy who most expect to be there (Steven Duggar) and then a bunch of question marks. Do the Giants address the outfield in the free agent market? Do they go for both corner spots? Are they going to make a major run at Bryce? Who knows. Here is what we do know:

More from Around the Foghorn

Players not returning or out of contract:

Under Contract or Team Control for 2019:

  • Gorkys Hernandez
  • Austin Slater
  • Mac Williamson
  • Chris Shaw
  • Steven Duggar

That list is relatively poor, paltry and should scare you a bit. If they’re going to compete, they need to make a couple splashes this offseason for the outfield either via trade or the free agent market.

The San Francisco Giants should certainly be trying to land Bryce Harper. It’s stupid if they don’t.

Next.

He’s a generational talent and could help the Giants immensely. His bad 2019 season, at least in comparison to his past successes, could help make him a lot cheaper than his camp was originally interested in. We’ll see what happens though. This is arguably the position grouping that needs the most improvement. We’ll have to see what they do to make that happen.
