San Francisco Giants fail to #BeatLA, drop series miserably

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 13: Matt Moore
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 13: Matt Moore

After contributing towards the Dodgers eleven game losing streak Monday night, the San Francisco Giants dropped the Kershaw-Cueto game last night (with no rain delays). Tonight the skies were clear as the Giants looked to take two of three from their struggling arch-rivals.

In the top of the first Matt Moore ran into some trouble right away. After hitting Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger would triple to right field giving the Dodgers the early 1-0 lead over the San Francisco Giants. Logan Forsythe would follow with an RBI double scoring Bellinger and making it 2-0 Dodgers in the first.

After the first inning, Moore pitched  decently, but found himself in and out of jams for the next few innings. Through four innings, Giants offense would struggle against Yu Darvish, putting up just a couple hits.

Cody Bellinger, the rookie who’s been crushing homers off every single team other than the Giants…would hit a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning off Matt Moore. Dodgers go up 4-0 on Bellinger’s homer. Everything is clicking for the Dodgers these past couple games, and all it took to end a historic losing streak was a trip to San Francisco!

After stringing together a few quality starts, Matt Moore just didnt have it today. Throwing a whopping 91 pitches through 4.1IP, Moore would only last that long before being taken out and replaced by Kyle Crick.

Crick would throw a solid inning and two-thirds while striking out three. Cory Gearrin would follow with a solid inning of his own. Giants bats still dead-quiet as Yu Darvish surrenders just three hits through seven innings.

After another impressive inning from rookie Reyes Moronta, he tosses his name onto the list for arms to possibly help in 2018. He’s been very impressive and could serve as a viable piece in next years rotation.

Giants wait until the very last minute to score a run, but they score one in the bottom of the ninth. After a Hunter Pence single, Jarrett Parker would eventually knock in Pence from second as the Giants avoid being shut-out at home.

With a day off tomorrow, the Giants welcome the D-Backs to town for a three game series. They will send out Jeff Samardzija, Madison Bumgarner and Chris Stratton against Robbie Ray, Zack Greinke and Tijuan Walker.
