San Francisco Giants fans are some of the best fans in the world. With a sellout streak approaching 500 games, the Giants have been included in FanSided’s Fandom 250
The San Francisco Giants have officially been unveiled as a part of the FanSided Fandom 250. The Fandom 250 will rank the best 250 fan-bases in sports and entertainment. Frankly, we weren’t shocked to find out.
If you’ve ever spent any time in San Francisco, or anywhere in Northern California, the Giant’s presence is incredibly strong. Capitalizing on local affiliations with the San Jose Giants (High-A) and the Sacramento River Cats (AAA), the San Francisco Giants stranglehold on Northern California is incredible.
Recently, the San Francisco Giants surpassed the sellout streak of the Cleveland Indians, marking their 456 consecutive, regular season sellout. It’s the second longest in baseball history, only behind the red-sox streak of sellouts running from 2001-2013. But the sold-out games aren’t the only thing that makes up the Giants fan-base.
Giants fans travel extremely well. We all know that Petco Park is really just “AT&T Park South.” The Giants usually have more fans there than Padres fans. On top of that, Colorado and Arizona have become a “home away from home” for the Giants. I remember being at a game at Wrigley Field a few years back. The Giants were down by one and down to their last strike, when Hunter Pence blasted a home-run into the Wrigley bleachers, sending the ballgame to extra innings. I was sitting near a bunch of Giants fans and we knew it was gone as soon as the ball was hit. We all hugged eachother, laughed, screamed, and enjoyed that moment together. I don’t know who they were, but that moment is something I’ll remember about our fanbase for a long time.

As we said earlier, it was no shock that the San Francisco Giants fanbase would be involved. One of the most loyal and enthusiastic in the business, the fanbase deserves every bit of recognition that they get. Among the others announced as nominees today were the Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, and Cleveland Indians.
The Final Fandom250 Rankings will be released on Dec. 6th. The Giants frankly should be within the top 20-25. If they’re lower than that, be surprised. The rest of those that were nominated yesterday can be found here.
