2 SF Giants who obviously need to be shown the door after Patrick Bailey trade

The SF Giants decided to move on from catcher Patrick Bailey by trading him to the Cleveland Guardians. It was a move that many saw coming, but it seems pretty clear that there are two other players who need to be shown the door as well.

Bailey was just not hitting well enough to justify a roster spot. With Daniel Susac and Jesus Rodriguez getting more playing time as of late it was tough to see how Bailey would remain in the picture.

Now that the catcher position is clearer for San Francisco, they need to turn to the bullpen. While it has not been as bad as people thought it might be coming into the season, there are two very glaring weak links.

Ryan Walker

At this point, Ryan Walker just has to go. There was some hope coming into the season that his struggles in 2025 were an aberration and that he could return to being the dominant force he was on the mound back in 2024.

That just hasn't been the case at all. Walker had another poor outing on Saturday night as he allowed two earned runs and only recorded two outs. It doesn't matter whether it's high leverage or low leverage appearances, Walker just does not have it this season. Fans are clearly fed up.

He has a 9.95 ERA in his last seven appearances and now has 6.46 ERA in 16 appearances on the year. The Giants could decide to demote him to Triple-A since he has minor league options remaining, but at some point the Giants might be better off cutting their losses and moving on from him entirely.

Ryan Borucki

Not only did Walker have a bad outing on Saturday night, so did left-handed reliever Ryan Borucki. He too has drawn the ire of Giants fans this season and deservedly so. His ERA is up to 6.00 on the season in 14 appearances.

He seemingly cannot get right-handed hitters out and even lefties, who he was supposed to be effective against, have given him troubles.

It's become obvious that these are the two weakest links in San Francisco's bullpen. There are plenty of other options the Giants can turn to in Triple-A. Dylan Smith and Michael Fulmer have been very effective and Sam Hentges has looked good in his rehab appearances.

The bullpen has been fine outside of these two guys so it's time for the Giants to get some better arms up who can be trusted.
