The SF Giants should be planning to sell at the trade deadline and they have quite a few players who could be enticing for other teams. The New York Yankees in particular could use a jolt of offense and the Giants have some bats who could help them out.
A recent post on July 6 from Bob Nightengale of USA Today encapsulates just how badly the Yankees have struggled offensively as of late: "You think the Yankees could use another bat? The Yankees have scored 3 or fewer runs in 11 of their past 17 games, and are 0-11 in those games. They scored 4 and 5 runs in the other 6 games, and are 4-2.”

The Yankees have scored 3 or fewer runs in 11 of their past 17 games, and are 0-11 in those games.
They scored 4 and 5 runs in the other 6 games, and are 4-2.
The Yankees went on to lose 6-4 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday so the offensive stagnation has continued. It’s clear they could use some help so it would not come as a shock to anyone if the Giants and Yankees ended up making a trade.
Giants have four players Yankees would love right now
Second baseman Luis Arraez makes sense for New York. Arraez is the type of contact bat that pretty much every team can use especially in the postseason when the pitching is tougher and putting the ball in play becomes even more important.
Buster Olney of ESPN recently said Arraez would be “perfect” for New York so the two sides could very well work out a deal that sends the All-Star to the east coast.
He’s not the only one who could help, though. Third baseman Matt Chapman is on the IL right now but he could make sense for a New York team that could use an upgrade at third base. Obviously, the fact that Chapman has a no-trade clause in his contract complicates things but if he waives it that could allow the Giants to move one of their big contracts.
New York is also still missing their star Aaron Judge who is on the IL. That’s clearly a huge reason why the Yankees’ offense has been so bad so they might want another outfielder in the mix in case Judge has a setback or something.
Heliot Ramos has been on fire since returning from the IL so he could be a nice addition for New York. He’s not going to be a free agent for a few more years so he will be relatively affordable.
Jung Hoo Lee could be another option for New York. If they want a contact bat who can also provide respectable defense in a corner outfield spot then he'd be a great fit and will be under contract for next season.
There is no shortage of options for the Yankees if they want an offensive upgrade. The Giants have hitters and they need hits so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the two teams swing a deadline deal for the second year in a row.
