If you can believe it, the first week of SF Giants camp is in the books. Let’s take a look at three non-roster pitchers who have made a positive impression, including Gregory Santos, Michael Fulmer, and Caleb Kilian.

Three SF Giants non-roster pitchers who have made a positive impression through the first week of camp

1. Gregory Santos

Ability has rarely been an issue for Santos, but staying on the field has been. He has pitched more than 10 innings in the majors just once in his career. In 2025, Santos tallied 7 seven frames with the Seattle Mariners before finishing the season on the injured list with a knee injury.

Not that long ago, Santos was viewed as one of the top prospects in the Giants’ system. Since then, he has pitched for the Chicago White Sox and Mariners organizations. Santos rejoined the Giants on a minors pact after being non-tendered by Seattle.

The right-handed pitcher has only made one appearance for the Giants this spring. He allowed two hits and two walks in a scoreless frame. It was not a sharp outing, but his sinker averaged 99.2 MPH and reached triple digits multiple times. That type of velocity often lends itself to a leverage role, but he will need to show better command to make the team.

2. Michael Fulmer

Buster Posey hinted that there would be a relatively open competition for bullpen roles in camp. Michael Fulmer has plenty of veteran experience and was previously recruited by Tony Vitello before being selected in the first round of the 2011 draft by the New York Mets.

The results in spring training are not indicative of regular season performance. That said, if a player needs to make the team, then it carries quite a bit of weight.

Relievers will see roughly 10 appearances in spring training. If eight of those outings are clean, then he will build a solid case to make the team. Fulmer has recorded two scoreless innings with three strikeouts this spring, so he is off to a good start.

3. Caleb Kilian

Similar to Gregory Santos, Caleb Kilian was an emerging young pitching prospect not that long ago. While Santos was eventually traded to the White Sox, Kilian was traded to the other side of Chicago in a deal to acquire Kris Bryant in 2021.

Kilian has completed two scoreless innings this spring, and flashed a healthy fastball that can reach the upper 90's. He has the stuff to become a reliable reliever, but the control has wavered in the past.
