Believe it or not, the 75-75 SF Giants still have an opportunity to reach the postseason. With 12 games to go in the season, San Francisco is two games behind the New York Mets in the NL Wild Card race. They don't have much room for error, but they can get there. It will have to start with wins tonight and tomorrow over the Diamondbacks, which makes these next few games crucial.

Most crucial will be the offense. Just a week ago, the Giants were cruising, led by the red-hot bat of Rafael Devers. Now, Devers has gone cold, and so have the Giants. San Francisco is on a three-game losing streak and is 4-6 in their last ten games.

SF Giants need Rafael Devers to step up in a big way these next two weeks

The Giants desperately need Devers to step up in the last 12 games of the season. The team's success might depend on it.

Between August 23rd and September 5th, the Giants went 11-1 and revived their season. During that stretch, Devers was doing everything right at the plate as he recorded a 1.298 OPS, the best on the team.

Over the next nine games, San Francisco has gone 3-6. During those nine games, Devers has an OPS of .392. and a batting average of .097. He has just three hits in the Giants' past nine games. That's simply not good enough, no matter how you spin it.

Devers has been a playoff hero before for the Red Sox. He's been to the dance, he's won a World Series, and he knows how crucial these games are. He's shown he is capable of carrying the Giants' offense for multi-week stretches, and he can do it again. But it has to start tonight against the charging Arizona Diamondbacks. San Francisco probably can't afford another loss that would drop them below .500.

It is up to Devers to find his swing and lead this team to victory. With a hot finish to the year he can prove that the scant glimpses of a better future he has provided are far more than a mirage. Time is running out, but the Giants must have faith their superstar can figure it out.
