The SF Giants and Chicago Cubs were set to square off at 11:20 AM PST on Friday at Wrigley Field but the game has been delayed due to rain. There was rain in the forecast and it looks like rain will be coming down from 1-5 PM CST.

Maybe the rain will clear out and the teams can potentially play later tonight especially since there is rain in the forecast the next few days too so it could be a soggy weekend in Chicago.

UPDATE: Friday's game is now set to start at 12:20 PST and 2:20 CST.

The Giants are coming off a fairly surprising two-game split in Milwaukee against the Brewers. They dropped the first two games of that series and looked like they could be spiraling out of control but a great Logan Webb start on Wednesday and an offensive explosion, that was almost ruined by the bullpen, on Thursday led to two much-needed victories.

Perhaps the Milwaukee series will give the Giants a little momentum as they try to get turned around this season. It's been a disappointing start as they are 25-38 on the season. Seemingly whenever they show signs of life like they did against the Brewers they give it right back by going on a losing streak so they need to avoid that.

Cubs are struggling but coming off huge win

They are at least facing a Cubs team that has been struggling. As our own Nathan Hirschi noted on social media, the Cubs began the season 29-9 and have lost 18 of their last 24 games since. They had an amazing walk-off win on Thursday night against the Athletics that ended with a Pete Crow-Armstrong walk-off hit after he made a big mistake earlier in the game.

Giants fans will love the fact that Crow-Armstrong called out Los Angeles Dodgers fans in the offseason but hopefully he is not heating up just in time to torch the Giants.

The Giants are set to face right-handed starter Edward Cabrera if there is a game on Friday. The Giants were rumored to have trade interest in him during the offseason but the Cubs ended up making a deal with the Miami Marlins.

San Francisco is scheduled to have Robbie Ray, Landen Roupp, and Trevor McDonald take the ball this series. The Giants need more consistency from their starting pitchers so hopefully these guys can keep the Giants in the game. Wilkin Ramos was demoted after a rough game yesterday and Carson Seymour was called up so at least the Giants have a fresh arm that can go multiple innings.

Unfortunately they may have to battle the elements to do so. Right as it was getting nice in Chicago of course it starts to rain. Hopefully the Giants can somehow get all three games in this weekend. This article will be updated f we learn more about start times or postponements.
