The SF Giants recorded a "sweep" against the Atlanta Braves after Thursday's game was rained out. They have reset the starting rotation for the three-game series against the Miami Marlins to include Landen Roupp, Trevor McDonald, and Logan Webb.

The Giants' bats were alive and well against the Atlanta Braves. They tallied 14 runs across two games while securing the series victory. According to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle, the makeup game is scheduled for August 31.

While the bats have ignited over the past few weeks, the pitching staff has lagged far behind. Webb is one of the few exceptions here.

Overall, the Giants' pitching staff is 22nd in baseball with a 4.50 ERA. They have posted a 4.90 ERA since May 1. The rotation has had some notable soft spots, including Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle.

Plus, the bullpen has struggled in overall effectiveness. That unit has a 4.25 ERA in 2026. On the bright side, they have finally named a closer in Caleb Kilian. On the downside, this was widely expected to be a roster weakness this season, and it has pretty much played out that way.

The SF Giants will need some innings from their startings this weekend

The Giants will need some innings from their starters this weekend. Unfortunately, that has not been the case for Landen Roupp and Trevor McDonald lately. Roupp has not made it past the sixth inning in his last four starts, and McDonald has pitched into the sixth inning just once in his past five outings.

The Giants hope that both young pitchers can fill rotation spots for the foreseeable future. Roupp has a more concrete grasp on that than McDonald, but both have been shaky lately. Overall, Roupp has pitched to a 4.24 ERA in 14 starts this year. This includes a 2.96 FIP, so there is a strong case that he has pitched better than his ERA would suggest.

On the other hand, McDonald has tallied a 4.64 ERA in eight outings. Similar to Roupp, his 3.87 FIP is much better than his ERA. The rookie pitcher is excelling in keeping the ball on the ground, but he has struggled to get left-handed hitters out.

Lastly, Logan Webb has rebounded after a slow start. There is a good chance the slow start was caused by the knee ailment that required a stint on the injured list. He has posted a 3.46 ERA in 12 starts this season. Webb has completed at least seven innings in each of his past three starts.
