The SF Giants (1-0) take on the Cincinnati Reds (1-1) on the first Sunday of spring training. Logan Webb is tabbed as today's starter in what should be a short outing of no more than two or three innings.

Webb takes the hill as the anchor of the rotation. In a decision that did not surprise anyone, Giants manager Bob Melvin announced that Webb would be making the Opening Day start. It will be the veteran hurler's fourth Opening Day start, tying him for Tim Lincecum for third-most in franchise history.

Webb is coming off of a solid 2024 campaign in which he registered a 3.47 ERA, 2.95 FIP, 1.23 WHIP, 7.6K/9, and a 3.44 SO/W rate in 33 starts. For the second year in a row, he led the NL in innings pitched with 204.2.

Who is pitching for the SF Giants?

Hayden Birdsong will follow Webb. The young pitcher posted a 4.88 ERA in 16 starts last year with more strikeouts (88) than innings pitched (72). Camilo Doval, Sean Hjelle, and a pair of non-roster pitchers in Juan Mercedes and Miguel Del Pozo are also slated to throw.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against right-handed pitcher Nick Martinez. Martinez is coming off of a strong year on the mound where he recorded a 3.10 ERA in 42 appearances, including 16 starts.
