The SF Giants (7-3) take on the Kansas City Royals (9-4) at home on Saturday afternoon. Keaton Winn will take the hill for San Francisco to make his first Cactus League start of the spring.

Winn was originally scheduled to start on Friday against the Cincinnati Reds, but that game got rained out. He has completed a scoreless inning in his lone outing so far this spring.

The right-handed hurler got off to a nice start through the first month of last season but struggled badly after that. It was clear that he was not right on the mound. He underwent ulnar nerve transposition surgery midway through last season that knocked him out for the remainder of the year. There were no setbacks in his recovery.

It is unknown as to what role the Giants see for Winn. He has an above-average splitter with a mid-90's four-seamer and sinker. Winn mixed in a slider more often last year, giving his arsenal a pitch that has more east-west movement. He has the command and the pitch mix to be a starter, but can he stay healthy to handle a starter's workload?

Who is pitching for the SF Giants?

Erik Miller is scheduled to make his first appearance of the spring. He was slowed due to finger numbness and a bout of the flu. He will be followed by Carson Ragsdale, Ryan Walker, and Joel Peguero.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will be facing off against veteran pitcher Michael Wacha. Wacha is coming off of an excellent season with the Royals where he posted a 3.35 ERA in 29 starts. The veteran pitcher flashes a mid-90's sinker and four-seamer that he pairs with a cutter. He will throw an occasional slider and curveball as well.
