Update: SF Giants pitchers & starting lineup vs. Cincinnati Reds, March 7 - Canceled
At this point in the spring, starters have been stretched out to three of four innings. It will be interesting to see how the Giants plan to use Winn. He has worked out of the rotation for much of his pro career but has been sidelined by elbow and forearm injuries. Perhaps, a move to the bullpen is the best move.
Winn underwent ulnar nerve transposition surgery midway through last season that knocked him out for the remainder of the year. The recovery timeline was only two months and he had a normal offseason.
The injury was a frustrating development to a really solid start in 2024 for Winn. He posted a 3.18 ERA through his first six starts but struggled badly in his next six outings. It was clear that something was wrong, and the Giants hope that the surgery will put the injuries in the past. The right-handed pitcher has completed one scoreless inning this spring.
Who is hot for the SF Giants?
After suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in 2024, the Giants were eager to see how Jung Hoo Lee would look out in the field. He looks to be in good health and has been one of the team's best hitters. Overall, he has tallied eight hits, including two home runs, in 20 at-bats.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants will face off against veteran hurler Nick Martinez. Martinez is coming off of a strong year with the Reds where he recorded a 3.10 ERA in 42 outings. He has a wide pitch mix that features a low 90's four-seam fastball with a changeup, cutter, sinker, curveball, and occasional slider.
