Due to the potential for inclement weather, tonight’s game between the Phillies and San Francisco Giants will now begin at 6:10 p.m., moved up from its originally scheduled 6:40 p.m. start.
Gate openings will remain unchanged: the…
There is a chance of some rain from 5 PM to 7 PM local Philadelphia time but the rain is supposed to intensify at 8 PM and could get worse as the night goes on so that is why the game was moved up a bit.
SF Giants-Phillies game threatened by rain
Hopefully the weather holds off and the game can be played in full without any delays, but early in the season with games on the east coast there is always a risk of weather disrupting the festivities. The Giants experienced that in New York against the Yankees in 2025.
The Giants were worried they might have a rain delay last week against the Los Angeles Dodgers. There was some rain during the contest but thankfully the game was not delayed and the Giants emerged victorious.
San Francisco came into that series reeling a bit so maybe the rain will serve as good fortune yet again. One certainly hopes it washes away the memory of last night as the Giants lost 7-0 and looked completely inept on offense. The Giants need their big bats to get going in the worst way as Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, and Matt Chapman are all struggling.
Wednesday’s game is scheduled to see Giants ace Logan Webb take the ball against Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez. Webb is still struggling to look like his usual self so far this season. He hasn’t been awful but he hasn’t been the same reliable Webb we’ve all grown accustomed to. Webb has a 4.86 ERA on the season so he will certainly be looking to lower that against a tough Phillies lineup.
Sanchez is a left-handed pitcher and San Francisco’s struggles against lefties have been well-documented. They certainly struggled against the left-handed Jesus Luzardo on Tuesday night. The Giants shook up the lineup a bit so hopefully that gets some offense going.
Hopefully the weather holds off and the Giants can get a full game in. This article will be updated if there are any weather developments or delays.
