Baseball Prospectus followed in what many prospect outlets have done by releasing its top prospect list. For the SF Giants, middle infielder Josuar Gonzalez reached a high watermark by coming in as the No. 20 prospect in the top-101 prospect list.

Power-hitting first baseman Bryce Eldridge came in at No. 33, followed by middle infielder Jhonny Level at No. 69. Gonzalez and Eldridge have appeared on just about every prospect list so far.

Many of those outlets have them as among the top prospects in baseball. There is a little variation in terms of who comes after that. Baseball America had Bo Davidson at No. 87, and Level coming in at No. 98.

Keith Law of The Athletic had 2025 first-round pick Gavin Kilen as the third-best prospect in the Giants' system, coming in at No. 69. Law was quick to praise the Kilen pick when the Giants made the selection. The Giants also have some younger pitchers, including Jacob Bresnahan, Argenis Cayama, and Keyner Martinez. They have not been featured on some of these top prospect lists, but there is a case to be made for each one.

Depending on where the Giants place Eldridge to start the year, there could be an interesting debate emerging as who is the No. 1 prospect between him and Josuar Gonzalez. The Giants have not necessarily committed to Eldridge beginning the season with the club.

However, there is an open path to playing time at DH that the Giants have seemingly left earmarked for Eldridge. They are likely hoping that he takes the decision out of their hands with a strong showing in the Cactus League.

On the other hand, Gonzalez just completed his first professional season last summer. He signed out of the Dominican Republic for just under $3 million during the 2025 international free agency cycle. That remains one of the largest investments made by the organization through this channel.

Last summer, the switch-hitter posted a .288/.404/.455 line (129 wRC+) with four home runs, 24 RBI, and 52 runs in 228 plate appearances. This includes a 16.2 percent walk rate, 15.8 percent strikeout rate, and .168 ISO. He also swiped 33 bases in 38 opportunities.

Scouts believe that Gonzalez will add more power as he develops. That will only add to a profile that currently features speed, defense, and the ability to hit for a high average.

Baseball America had a fascinating discussion about Gonzalez a couple of months ago, where Bed Badler and Carlos Collazo believed that he would have been in the running to be the top pick in the 2025 draft, if eligible.
