2027 has been circled for a while as a big year for the SF Giants when it comes to the Hall of Fame. Buster Posey will be eligible for induction as a player and Bruce Bochy and Dusty Baker will be eligible for induction as managers on the Contemporary Baseball Era Ballot. They won’t be the only Giants in the mix as executive Brian Sabean is also included on the ballot.

While we just recently covered how the New York Yankees just let Sabean go, and how a reunion with the Giants feels sort of inevitable, he might feel better about the fact that he is eligible to be enshrined in Cooperstown.

He will need to get 75-percent of the vote, which will be announced on December 6, or higher to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and given his career pedigree he has a pretty good shot. He helped lead the Giants to four World Series appearances and they won three of them during his tenure as general manager from 1997 to 2014.

The fact that so much of the talent on those teams, especially during the 2010 to 2014 run, was homegrown just speaks to what a great job Sabean and his team of scouts and executives did in evaluating young talent and then turning those young players into quality big league players.

There are quite a few executives in the Hall of Fame so Sabean would be joining some illustrious company. The question is whether the committee will view his achievements as worthy of enshrinement. Giants fans are obviously going to be biased on this matter but will the committee look at Sabean in the same way?

Giants might have a full nostalgia-fest at Cooperstown in 2027

It would be beyond fitting if Sabean, Bochy, and Posey were to go into the Hall of Fame together as they are arguably the three individuals most responsible for San Francisco’s championship run. The Sabean-Bochy partnership took a few years to really start producing results but once Posey showed up on the scene in 2010 it was off to the races and a dynasty ensued.

What a Giants-centric celebration it would be in Cooperstown for those three guys to go in together. Add Baker into the mix who was the manager of the Giants when Sabean first took over the front office and it makes it all even more fitting.

The present for the Giants may be fairly bleak, but at least there’s a very real chance we will get to revel in some nostalgia next year if all four of these Giants legends make it into the Hall of Fame.
