The SF Giants are not in the playoffs, so fans must resort to the tradition of hoping the Los Angeles Dodgers lose. LA is in control of the NLDS series against the Philadelphia Phillies, but yet another Clayton Kershaw playoff dud is exactly what Giants fans love to see.

The Dodgers are still up 2-1 in their series against the Phillies, but they lost 8-2 on Wednesday night. The Dodgers entered the seventh inning down 3-1 and called upon future Hall of Fame pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bullpen. It went how it usually goes for Kershaw in October.

SF Giants fans delight as Clayton Kershaw adds to awful postseason resume

Kershaw made it through two arduous innings as he got roughed up, allowing six hits, three walks, two home runs, and four earned runs as he effectively took the Dodgers out of the game. It could end up being his final career appearance at Dodger Stadium as he announced he will be retiring following this season.

In 40 career playoff appearances, Kershaw now has a 4.63 ERA. Compared to his 2.53 career regular season ERA, it is jarring how poorly he has performed in the playoffs. Giants fans wasted no time taking delight in yet another Kershaw dud.

Kershaw's struggles also gave Giants fans a chance to appreciate just how dominant Madison Bumgarner was in his postseason career. Giants radio announcer F.P. Santangelo posed an interesting hypothetical between Kershaw and Bumgarner on social media.

Kershaw has had an incredible Hall of Fame career in the regular season while Bumgarner was one of the best postseason pitchers ever and arbuably the best World Series pitcher ever. Bumgarner will retire with three World Series rings, one of them thanks in very large part to him, while Kershaw will have at least two, one of them coming during the 60-game season and the other coming last season when he did not even participate in the playoffs due to injury which is probably the best thing that could have happened for the Dodgers.

Bumgarner has a career 2.11 ERA in the playoffs and a ridiculous 0.25 ERA in the World Series. Compare that to his 3.47 career ERA in the regular season and it is clear that when the chips were down, there was no one you wanted to take the ball more than Bumgarner.

Giants fans will never miss a chance to delight in a Dodgers loss and thankfully Kershaw has provided a lot of chances over the years in the playoffs. He may have had the Giants' number in his career, but the month of October certainly had his number which is going to be a key part of his legacy.
