SF Giants catcher Daniel Susac takes hilarious jab at Harrison Bader with celebration

The more we have learned about SF Giants outfielder Harrison Bader’s scooter accident which resulted in him injuring his foot, the more it has just seemed like 2026 is a cursed year for the Giants.

Bader reportedly crashed his scooter into a fire truck in the wee hours of the morning a few weeks ago and injured the foot that he was supposed to be rehabbing.

Thankfully, the Giants have chosen to make light of the situation. Rookie catcher Daniel Susac laced a double in the team’s most recent series against the Texas Rangers and as he rolled into second base, he turned towards the dugout and appeared to mime riding a scooter.

Logan Webb and Bryce Eldridge were clearly delighted as they laughed at Susac’s celebration and even the rookie flashed a sly, knowing smirk.

This is the kind of thing that will keep this team going the last few months of the season. They don’t really have much to play for other than pride so Susac is at least providing some levity as this disappointing season draws to a merciful close.

Harrison Bader incident is so dumb it deserves to be mocked

The Bader thing is just emblematic of everything that’s gone wrong this season. It was embarrassing, stupid, and not becoming of a big league ballplayer which is how the product on the field could be described as at times this year.

Thankfully, Bader will likely never play another game for the Giants if they end up getting rid of him somehow or voiding the rest of his contract. 

It made sense to bring him in as a solid veteran who would strengthen the team’s outfield defense but with how this season has gone there’s just no justification to have him on next year’s squad.

I’d much rather see a platoon of Drew Gilbert and Jonah Cox next year in center field. Let the young kids play and see what they’re made of. That’s a much better situation for manager Tony Vitello too in which he can manage kids who are closer to college age rather than veteran players who think they can do whatever they want like go on a scooter joyride at 2 AM.

At least the Giants are having some fun with it. I can get behind a silly scooter celebration after doubles much more easily than that stupid celebration the Dodgers do after doubles.
