Spring training is starting for the SF Giants soon. Pitchers and catchers will report on February 12th and the first spring training game will be played February 21st. For people looking to visit Scottsdale to catch a game, there are plenty of nice spots for Giants fans to go.

I used to live in Arizona and went to my fair share of Giants games at Scottsdale Stadium. While I was a teenager at the time and was not all that tuned into Scottsdale's nightlife scene, there are still spots I look back on fondly.

Places in Scottsdale for SF Giants fans to go for spring training

Scottsdale Stadium is right in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale which still has a little bit of the Wild West in it. There are museums, restaurants and plenty of nightlife to enjoy.

Old Town Tavern is a classic spot to hit before or after the game. It's a sports bar with live music throughout the week so you should find plenty of fellow Giants fans there.

The Rusty Spur Saloon is another top bar in Scottsdale. It's just a few minutes away from the park and is easy to get to and has more of a country music vibe if that's your predilection.

If you want more of a taste of the Wild Wild West, the "Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West" is a perfect place to familiarize yourself with the American West. There are tons of fascinating exhibits including one about Hollywood Westerns.

One place I have especially fond memories of is the Sugar Bowl, the best place in Scottsdale for a sweet treat like an ice cream or a sundae which comes in handy on a hot Arizona afternoon even though thankfully the weather should be fairly tame in February and March.

As for special events at the games, the Giants have three special event games at Scottsdale Stadium for the first time. On March 1st the Giants will have a Dog Day where you can bring your furry friend to the ballpark.

On March 3rd the team will have Arizona State University day where they have a special hat with the "SF" logo and Sun Devil colors. It's perfect considering Barry Bonds went to ASU.

Then on March 12th it's Youth Baseball and Softball Day which will give young players a chance to ask questions to Giants players and coaches.

Of course, the main attraction at Scottsdale Stadium this spring will be the product on the field and there are plenty of interesting young prospects to keep an eye on in Cactus League play.
