How time flies.

The SF Giants just called up their top prospect Bryce Eldridge to the big leagues. The 20-year-old is still incredibly young and a resurfaced photo shows him with the oldest Giants player, Justin Verlander, when he was a kid.

The photo was shared on social media and it is very cute to see a young Eldridge waiting eagerly for Verlander's autograph with his Little League All-Star team.

That photo is from when Eldridge was 10 so it was probably taken in either 2014 or 2015. The post below it says that Verlander was drafted in June of 2004 which was four months before Eldridge was even born.

Verlander made his MLB debut in July of 2005 at the age of 22 which means Eldridge was not even 1 year old yet when Verlander debuted. It is crazy to think that these two guys could be on the same big league team in 2025 but they are.

Eldridge is the youngest Giant to make his debut since Madison Bumgarner back in 2010. He carries a lot of expectations on his shoulders as the team tries to make a playoff push, but no matter how this season turns out the hope is he will develop into a slugger with the Giants. The injury to Dominic Smith has at least opened the door to him getting a taste of the big leagues.

As for the 42-year-old Verlander, he has been thriving on the mound as of late. His last two starts against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks have been masterful and he has made clear that he wants to keep pitching in 2026 at the age of 43.

We will see if that ends up being with the Giants, but with how strong he has looked as of late he is certainly going to draw some interest as a free agent in the offseason.

For now, we can just marvel at the fact that a 20 year old and a 42 year old are on the Giants roster at the same time. It may be quite some time before there is that large of an age gap on the team again and it is cool that they are now on the same team ten years after that photo was taken.
