Projected 2027 SF Giants lineup with everyone healthy is actually not too bad

Looking at the lineups the SF Giants have been rolling with as of late, one could be forgiven for saying, “Who?” The Giants are having to play a lot of guys who would be in Triple-A or Double-A pretty much any other year thanks to all of the injuries.

The only two hitters who remain in the lineup from Opening Day are Jung Hoo Lee and Rafael Devers. Yet, with the way some of these young guys are playing they could very well be in the team’s Opening Day lineup next season.

If the Giants are able to get all of their guys back and healthy and can combine them with some of these younger players, they could actually have a pretty decent lineup next season even if they don't make any big additions in the offseason. Let’s project what 2027’s lineup could look like once they get everyone back.

Projected 2027 SF Giants lineup could be pretty good

CF Drew Gilbert/Jonah Cox

I’ve been an advocate of a platoon between Cox and Gilbert in center field next year. This assumes the Giants are able to get rid of Harrison Bader somehow which would open the door for the young guys to play in center.

Gilbert has done well against righties and Cox has looked good against lefties. They both have some speed and are above-average defenders so they’d be good table-setters for the Giants.

2B Casey Schmitt

It’s easy to forget just how red-hot Casey Schmitt was at times this season. It’s an absolute shame his season was ended by a knee injury but keep in mind he was hitting .271/.301/.483 with 21 homers and 55 runs batted in when he got hurt.

He was on pace to hit 30 homers so if he can produce the same way next year that would really be huge for the lineup.

1B/DH Rafael Devers

While Devers had a brutal month of April, he has been really good ever since then. He’s absolutely on fire right now so if he can bottle up this version of himself and use it for the whole year opposing teams might start giving him the Barry Binds treatment and walk him.

1B/DH Bryce Eldridge

Of course, if they walk Devers that means they have to deal with Eldridge. He reminded everyone of that recently against the Pittsburgh Pirates when they walked Devers to get to Eldridge in extra innings and he hit a go-ahead double.

3B Matt Chapman

Even though Chapman was not having a great year offensively when he went on the IL with his injury, the hope is that when he is healthy he can get back to being a productive hitter. When he’s right he can hit 25 homers and that combined with his great defense still makes him valuable.

SS Willy Adames

Like Chapman, Willy Adames struggled in 2026 but if he can get healthy we know he is capable of hitting 30 home runs. Between Schmitt, Eldridge, Devers, Chapman, and Adames, that’s five guys who could potentially hit 20, perhaps even 30, or more homers.

RF Jung Hoo Lee

While Jung Hoo Lee has cooled off considerably as of late, his hit streak earlier this year is a reminder of the kind of hitter he can be. He’s streaky, but his ability to make contact is valuable in a lineup that has a lot of swing and miss.

LF Turner Hill/Victor Bericoto

If the Giants opt for a platoon of the young guys in center field, why not do it in left too? Turner Hill has been really impressive as of late and having him and Lee down towards the bottom of the order could make for some pesky at-bats. Bericoto could be a could guy to use against lefties given his power.

C Drew Cavanaugh/Daniel Susac

Expect to see a timeshare of sorts between Drew Cavanaugh and Daniel Susac at catcher next season. Both have done promising things and while Susac is done for the year he should still get a look next season too.

It’s not a bad lineup by any stretch. Of course, many said the same thing coming into the 2026 season and we know how that turned out. Maybe the fusion of young players and veterans will lead to better results.
