The SF Giants have split the first two games of the series against the Washington Nationals. They will now have arguably the hottest pitcher in baseball in Blake Snell on the mound on Wednesday to get them back in the win column.

The Giants got out to an early lead on Tuesday night against the Nationals. For a moment, it felt like they were going to finally pull above .500, but that current is just too strong at times.

Snell is coming off the best start of his career where he pitched a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in a 3-0 victory. The lefty pitcher has allowed just two earned runs in his last five starts. Overall, he has a 4.29 ERA in 10 outings with San Francisco.

Who it hot?

Jerar Encarnación has quickly made a positive impression with the Giants. He was appeared in five games and tallied six hits, including a home run, in 17 at-bats. The raw power is real, but the question will be whether he can hit enough to allow that power to play. It is too small of a sample to make a judgment, but he is off to a nice start.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against Jake Irvin. Irvin is having a strong 2024 campaign with a 3.56 ERA, 3.88 FIP, 1.09 WHIP, 7.7 K/9, and a 3.59 SO/W rate in 23 starts. The righty pitcher has posted a 2.08 ERA against the Giants lineup in two starts.
