The SF Giants dropped the first game of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night. Blake Snell will take the hill to help get San Francisco back in the win column.

Incredibly, Snell has only recorded two wins in a Giants uniform. That will have no impact on his free agency case whatsoever, but it is an oddly low number for someone who has made 17 starts and pitched so well in the second half.

It is highly likely that the southpaw pitcher will opt out of the second season of his two-year, $62 milllion contract. Whether he returns remains to be seen, but he has made an impact in his first season with San Francisco. Snell has registered a 3.62 ERA with 116 strikeouts against 39 walks in 87 innings in 2024.

Who is hot?

Mike Yastrzemski reached base twice while hitting a solo shot against the Brewers on Tuesday. On the year, he has tallied a .746 OPS with 14 home runs while playing solid defense in right field. The veteran outfielder was also recently nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Brewers just have a knack for inventing pitchers. It is fascinating to see from afar. Wednesday's starter is 34-year-old hurler Colin Rea, who is having the best year of his career with a 3.72 ERA in 27 appearances, including 24 starts, for the Brewers. Rea has pitched to a 5.29 ERA in three career starts against the Giants.
