Former SF Giants manager Gabe Kapler survived the recent Miami Marlins front office purge. The assistant GM was in his first year with the Marlins and it seems that he will be getting a second despite a tough year for the team.

It was reported that the Miami Marlins are having a massive overhaul of their front office. They got rid of two of their assistant GM's, but Kapler was not one of the front office individuals who was fired. This is some good fortune for Kapler considering the Marlins have a dismal 44-75 record. It would not have been all that surprising if they cleaned house and started from scratch.

Kapler's hiring in the Marlins front office came as a bit of a surprise. He was fired by the Giants last season after two years of mediocre play, a second half collapse in 2023, and reports that he was losing the clubhouse. He brought with him experience in player development during his time with the Dodgers organization which may have helped him land the job.

However, reporting suggests that the Marlins hope to keep Kapler in his current role as an assistant GM next season as well. If that is true, that means we should pump the brakes on any notion that he could become the Marlins manager next season.

While Kapler has seemingly kept his day job, he has also picked up a side hustle as a TikTok influencer with his vague motivational videos. Unfortunately, it seems he either deleted his account or made his videos private.

Nonetheless, Kapler remains a divisive figure amongst Giants fans. Many fans could not stand him and his unique style while many others will defend him and say that he was unfairly made the scapegoat by the front office, specifically Farhan Zaidi.

Either way, Gabe Kapler has avoided being fired for the second time in as many years and will continue to be involved in professional baseball. Perhaps he will be back managing not too long from now.
