Farhan Zaidi has firm response with whether SF Giants are done making moves
The SF Giants finalized their deal with Blake Snell on Tuesday and held an introductory press conference on Wednesday morning. During it, Farhan Zaidi was asked about whether the team was done making moves and he responded with, "the door is closed now" for free agency.

It is a response Zaidi has used a couple of times since spring training got underway. He downplayed the idea of any future additions following the Jorge Soler signing and and suggested that the Giants were done after the Matt Chapman signing.
Of course, Zaidi is not going to show his hand to the public. Plus, he had been negotiating with Scott Boras for both Chapman and Snell, so the front office executive likely did not want any public comments leveraged.
The Giants have had a busy offseason and checked off a lot of boxes. They did not bring back any of their pending free agents from the 2023 season and signed six players to major league deals while adding another in Robbie Ray in a trade with the Seattle Mariners. Anthony DesClafani and Mitch Haniger were shipped out in that trade, whereas Ross Stripling was moved to the Oakland A's in a separate deal.
The 2024 Giants will have a different look and one that fans are excited about. With the addition of Snell, the Giants have a co-ace to pair alongside Logan Webb. The lineup will feature three, new everyday players with Chapman, Soler, and Jung Hoo Lee. It is clear at this point that the Giants are in win-now mode.
With Zaidi saying they are done, there is reason to believe it this time. He has achieved what he intended to do this winter.
That said, the Giants should still have plenty of activity before the Opening Day roster is finalized. The 40-man roster is full following the Snell signing, so any additions to the 40-man roster would require a corresponding move.
One move will be adding Nick Ahmed to the active roster. He came into camp on a non-roster deal and has earned a spot at this point. Spencer Howard, Daulton Jefferies, and Juan Sanchez are all candidates to make the club as well.
On the other side of that transaction, Joey Bart is one of the few options they may consider moving off of the roster. He entered camp without any minor league options remaining, so there is a decision on him looming. The Giants have a few other soft spots on the 40-man roster to consider as well.
The heavy lifting for the offseason is done and Zaidi confirmed that on Wednesday. Though, a few other moves still need to be made before the start of the season.
