The SF Giants have had an up and down start to the 2022 campaign, and while expectations were certainly high before this season, coming off a 107 win 2021 season, they are hanging tough in the NL Wild Card race.

5 potential trade partners for the SF Giants

Health has played a major factor in the Giants slip to No. 3 in the NL West, but when they get healthy, it's easy to see this team as a solid playoff team, who could look to genuinely contend this October.

Unfortunately, the health and struggles of some players have the Giants looking for answers, and although there's been solid contributions from within the farm, this squad will definitely look to be buyers at the August trade deadline.

While it's hard to target exactly which names the Giants will look to buy, as this farm is on the cusp of sending several breakout names to the big leagues, but we can look at five teams the Giants should be keeping in contact with as we approach the deadline.

1. The SF could deal with the Cincinnati Reds

There are rumours going back as far as February that the Giants were targeting a pair of Reds starting pitchers, and despite the hot start from Carlos Rodon and Logan Webb, those rumours persist.

Tyler Mahle and Luis Castillo are two names that continually pop up, and while the Giants have a deep rotation, the health issues surrounding Anthony DeSclafani and Alex Cobb could lead the Giants to explore these two names further.

Neither player has been setting the world on fire in 2022, but both were great in 2021, and if the Giants can potentially buy low here, we could be looking at a name or two that will solidify this rotation around Rodon, Webb and Alex Wood as the Giants push in October.
