SF Giants reportedly have a favorite in managerial search

Last week, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic (subscription required) wrote about the current status of the managerial vacancies around baseball. She reports that veteran backstop Nick Hundley is now considered the favorite for the Giants' position.

The list of known candidates includes Hundley, Kurt Suzuki, and Craig Albernaz. According to John Shea of the San Francisco Standard, the Giants have also spoken with former Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde. Shea does not specify whether that is for the managerial vacancy or some other role with the organization. The former Orioles manager grew up in the North Bay, so there could be a fit on paper to join the organization.

As soon as Bob Melvin was dismissed as Giants manager, a source told Around the Foghorn that Hundley was going to receive serious consideration for the role. There has been a lot of concrete evidence since then to substantiate that claim.

Los Angeles Dodgers advance to NLCS

The Los Angeles Dodgers will face off against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS. There is little surprise in the Dodgers advancing this far. On the other hand, the Brewers concluded a surprisingly strong season with 97 wins.

Despite being one of the smallest markets in baseball, they have continued to be one of the better-run organizations. They just know how to get the best out of their players.

Here is a stat that might appeal to Giants fans. The Brewers went 6-0 against the Dodgers in 2025.

Another resignation in Colorado Rockies front office

The Colorado Rockies already had one resignation in the front office this offseason, with Bill Schmidt stepping down. They recently had another, as assistant general manager Zack Rosenthal has resigned as well, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.Com.

Both Schmidt and Rosenthal had been with the Rockies for a long time. Schmidt had been working in the Rockies' front office since 1999, and Rosenthal had been with the organization for 21 years.

After having one of the worst seasons in baseball in 2025, the Rockies leadership group could look a lot different in 2026. They will be searching for a president of baseball operations, along with potentially a new assistant general manager and manager. Interim manager Warren Schaeffer's status for 2026 is unclear at the moment.
